Biography
Mihir Mankad has served as an award-winning Professor of Practice in Leadership Communication at Tufts University, and has led major public speaking and media initiatives at school 2013. His flagship course, The Arts of Communication, became the highest enrolled electives at the Fletcher School, with over 700 course enrollees (including 90+ Harvard cross-registrants) over a period of 6 years. Professor Mankad has also taught Ed L.D. advanced degree students at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, MBA students from the Harvard Business School and the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad and Mohali, and the Young India Fellows at Ashoka University. In recent years, his innovative course, Adaptive Leadership and Managerial Communication course, has been acknowledged by the original researchers of Adaptive Leadership at Harvard University. He has been nominated for The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy's Paddock Teaching award and has also received the Tufts University Teaching with Technology award. This university-wide honor was awarded to 10 faculty members from over 200 nominated and over 1,000 total faculty members at the school.
Mihir has also instructed over 100 executive groups and senior officials, including Indian and Greek diplomats and defense ministry officials, senior police officers from across the US, Central Bank heads from over 20 nations, and top executives and CXO’s of reputed corporates across industries. For five years, Mr. Mankad served as the Deputy Director of the Edward R Murrow Center for a Digital World at Tufts University, leading high-profile TED-style speaker events and hosting key luminaries and media guests such as CNN’s Anderson Cooper, HBO’s Richard Pleplar and NBC’s Lester Holt.
Mihir’s career spans a rich and diverse array of fields, including media, management consulting, and nonprofit leadership. Previously, he served as a national television anchor with top channels in India such as NDTV Profit (Business), Zee Sports, and the national public broadcaster, Doordarshan. In addition to hosting prime-time news bulletins, he was involved in anchoring some of the most viewed television events in Indian history, including live broadcasts of the 2021 Tokyo and 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, and the 2011 Cricket World Cup on DD National and DD Sports. These broadcasts had viewership in excess of 30 million and were aired in over 70 countries besides India.
Mihir’s pre-television career includes strategy consulting at McKinsey and Company out of the Mumbai office, as well as Bain and Company in San Francisco. He also served as the Deputy Country Director of The Clinton Foundation, leading the country operations in health access and pediatric HIV in India, and managing a team of 30 international professionals and 200 implementing NGO’s.
Mihir holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Psychology from Stanford University, where he was on the national championship tennis team, an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management as a Dean’s Honors list recipient, and a mid-career MPA as a Mason Fellow and John Kenneth Galbraith Presidential Scholar from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
